Honouring Loved Ones
Keeping Memories Alive In A Wedding
It goes without saying that a wedding ceremony can be highly emotional however, this emotion can be taken to a whole different level when someone very special is missing from your special day.
'Missing' could be due to the loss of a loved one or due to circumstances such as Covid restrictions that is preventing a loved one from being physically present.
There are many different ways to honour that person or persons, it is an entirely personal choice.
My own daughter-in-law carried miniature framed photos (pictured here) of grandparents - both hers and her grooms, attached to her bouquet.
Other suggestions can be subtle or more stated such as;
- Stage a memorial table which could include large framed photos.
- A vacant chair with a familiar item, words not required.
- A candle lit by the bride and groom and allowed to burn throughout the ceremony.
- A family heirloom such as Grandpas's handkerchief could be the pocket square for the groom
- Or a special necklace or bracelet worn by the bride.
There are no rules or restrictions about how to honour a loved one so the options are limited only by your imagination!
