Some Love Stories Simply Take a Little Longer to Find Their Way

FAQ - can we have a wedding ceremony inside at Fowles?

One of the greatest joys of being a marriage celebrant is witnessing the many different ways people find love.

Some meet when they're young.

Others find each other after life's twists and turns have taken them in unexpected directions.

Peter and Barb's story is a beautiful reminder that love doesn't have an expiry date. Sometimes, it simply arrives when you're ready to recognise it.

Their intimate wedding at Fowles Wine in Avenel wasn't about tradition for tradition's sake. It was about celebrating the life they had already lived, the family and friends who had supported them along the way, and the exciting future they were choosing to build together.

A Winery Wedding That Reflected Them Perfectly

Set amongst the rolling hills of Fowles Wine, family and close friends gathered to celebrate a wedding that felt warm, relaxed and wonderfully personal.

One of the things I loved most about Peter and Barb's ceremony was that they never felt bound by convention.

They created a ceremony that reflected who they are, and every choice they made felt genuine.

That's exactly how a wedding should be.

They Walked Into Their Marriage Together

One of the most memorable moments happened before the ceremony had even begun.

Rather than following tradition and arriving separately, Peter and Barb chose to walk into their ceremony together.

Side by side. As equals. As partners.

Halfway down the aisle they paused, turned towards one another and shared a quiet dance together while the granddaughter of Barb's lifelong best friend sang them into the ceremony.

There wasn't a dry eye among the guests.

It wasn't elaborate. It wasn't choreographed. It was simply them.

A beautiful reminder that your wedding doesn't have to follow anyone else's rules. Sometimes the moments you create yourselves become the ones everyone remembers.

A Blessing Carried Through Generations

Every wedding has a moment that stays with you long after the day is over.

For me, it was the exchange of the rings.

Peter's 102 year old mother Mim, held the rings throughout the ceremony. With quiet dignity, she cradled them as the ceremony unfolded before gently passing them forward when it was time for Peter and Barb to exchange their vows.

It wasn't simply about holding the rings. It was about holding everything they represented.

Family. Love. Commitment. Hope.

It felt like generations quietly standing together in one beautiful moment.

A blessing from the past, held in the present, for a future built together.

Sometimes the most meaningful parts of a ceremony don't need explaining.

Everyone present understood exactly what that moment meant.

Why I Love Weddings Like This

As a celebrant, I've learnt that no two ceremonies should ever feel the same.

Peter and Barb's wedding wasn't about following a script.

It was about honouring their story.

It celebrated second chances, family, friendship and the understanding that some of life's greatest gifts arrive when you least expect them.

Those are the ceremonies that stay with you.

Why Fowles Wine Is Such a Wonderful Wedding Venue

Fowles Winery offers couples the perfect blend of relaxed country hospitality and beautiful vineyard scenery.

Whether you're planning an intimate gathering like Peter and Barb's or a larger celebration, the venue provides a stunning backdrop that allows your ceremony to remain the heart of the day.

The rolling countryside creates a peaceful atmosphere, while the exceptional food and wine make it easy for guests to settle in and enjoy every moment together and being able to trust the event manager Tyler and her team takes away all the stress.

It's one of those venues that encourages everyone to slow down, connect and simply enjoy the celebration.

Every Love Story Deserves to Be Celebrated

One of the greatest privileges of my role is standing alongside couples from every stage of life.

Some are just beginning their journey together.

Others have found one another after experiencing all that life can bring.

Peter and Barb reminded everyone present that love doesn't become less meaningful with time.

If anything, it becomes richer. It carries gratitude. Perspective. Patience.

And a deep appreciation for finding someone to walk beside for whatever comes next.

Watching them walk into their ceremony together was a beautiful symbol of exactly that.

Not one leading the other.

Simply two people choosing to take the next steps of life, side by side.

Cheryl's Venue Tip

Don't be afraid to let go of traditions that don't feel like you.

Walking down the aisle together, inviting a loved one to sing, asking a parent or grandparent to hold your rings, or creating a moment that's completely your own often becomes the part of the ceremony your guests talk about long after the wedding is over.

The most memorable ceremonies aren't the ones that follow every tradition.

They're the ones that tell your story.
